Square – start accepting card payments, anywhere!

Square is a great new concept created by the co-founder of Twitter, Jack Dorsey.  What this means is that anyone can use Square to take credit card payments, via their smart-phone, anywhere!  It’s a great idea, and solves many problems small businesses, and those not based in traditional shops or retail settings face in accepting card payments.

How can this help the hotel industry?  I’m not sure yet.  But I am sure it can do for certain businesses, and it’s certainly something to look into further if you find yourself limited in terms of payment services.

So how does it work?

So, simple right?  Well, it looks it.  Of course there are terms and conditions and a 2.75% fee, but that’s it.  no contracts, monthly charges or merchant account.

When you hear a new concept like this, you get an idea if it’s going to take off.  When you hear the guy behind it’s the very same behind Twitter, you start to really believe in it.  It will be interesting to see how it takes off.  I think it’s only in the US right now, but sure the UK will see it soon.
