Travelodge have continued to re-invest in their growth in the UK market by acquiring fifty-two Innkeepers Lodges, previously owned by Mitchells & Butlers, on twenty-five year leases. This means that the hotel chains property portfolio rises to 452 which equates to something like 35,000 rooms.
Travelodge have had something of a re-vamp of late, with plenty of television advertising to combat that of Premier Inn, who are also investing in new properties and openings. Travelodge have claimed this is the largest hotel transaction since 2008. With this comes a refurbishment programme to bring the new acquisitions in line with the Travelodge branding. Each new property is situation close to a Mitchells & Butlers restaurant/pub and some even have grade II listed buildings!
The 52 UK hotels, which include a number of grade ll listed buildings, range from 21 to 85 rooms and are adjacent to a Mitchells & Butlers restaurant and pub.
